Why I Love Alpha Us

After a lot of hard work and preparation, Vineyard Columbus a few weeks away from launching its first all-church Alpha campaign. Alpha is an event where people from all walks of life come together to ask questions, discuss different ideas, and share a meal.

As I’ve been praying for Alpha, the picture that comes to mind is a gigantic, gift-wrapped box; a larger-than-life package with something life-giving inside! As a church, we are endeavoring to offer the city of Columbus a precious gift through Alpha. We want to demonstrate hospitality, create a space to ask questions, pray, and give people an opportunity to press in with Jesus. There is so much joy in giving and receiving this gift.

I am part of a team that will be leading a group called Alpha Us. Alpha Us is a course for couples (dating, engaged, and married) seeking to strengthen their relationships. The course offers essential tools and practical ideas to help couples build healthy relationships that last a lifetime. I am thrilled that we are offering this gift to couples in our city, and I want to share a few reasons why I love Alpha Us.

1. Alpha Us is like a date night. If you have kids, fur babies, or just don’t get much time alone together, can you imagine a night out that feels special with quality time together? Can you picture what it would be like to have a meaningful, private conversation with your partner that helps you feel more connected to them?

2. Alpha Us has top-notch snacks! We want to love on couples and have sought to bring in treats that will please. Each week is a surprise, and it keeps getting better.

3. Alpha Us (like all Alpha gatherings) shows what God’s character is like. Alpha Us says, “You are loved, belong, and are welcome here.” It is a demonstration of God’s unconditional love that invites people to come as they are.

Will you and your partner join us to receive this gift? Can you invite a couple to receive this blessing?

Alpha Us will meet on Tuesdays from 6:45-9:00 p.m. at Vineyard Columbus, Westerville Campus. The course starts Sept. 20 and runs through Nov. 1. Space is limited, so please register beforehand. Limited childcare is also available (ages 1-12).
